Moon The Dog

The life of a Dog is never easy. These are the trials of a canine existence. With (unwanted) commentary by a cat.

Moon The Dog Nanu The Cat

I am Moon. I am a dog. I live with my sister, Zoey. I am ruled by the Queen Moran. There is also "The Cat", Nanu, who is the bane of my existence. This site is the story of our life under the same roof. Oh yeah, we have a few human servants here, but they will be rarely mentioned.

Vacation Time

We are planning our vacation. We are sending the humans out to the desert and we are going to stay at the Balcom Canyon Pet Lodge. This is a great little resort that was highlighted in this old article.

What they don't explain in this article is that the big dogs, like me and my sister, live in semi-covered dog runs, where we have shade, sun and a big place to run and play. That sounds great, right? Yeah, well little Foxxy is going to be joining us on our vacation.

As she is a petite little snack, she doesn't "get" to stay in the same place as us. She gets to stay in a suite. She gets a nice little air conditioned room, with a private bed, classical music and daily attention by the humans there. She gets the posh little joint (appropriate for her size), and we get to have space to run and play.

This place has something for every dog.

Who did that on the carpet?

While I hear that question every once and a long while (usally after a long day when the humans are gone), it seems that some humans in Austria are tired of uttering those words. They are proposing DNA Testing for dog poop.

Yes. They are proposing to take DNA (explained to me as little things that are in your body that mark you as who you are . . . kinda like the way pee smells) from all 50,000 dogs in the town and then testing any poop that is found.

The idea, methinks, lacks realism. While the proposed fine would include the cost of the DNA test, the humans won't put up with it. Better to just wipe it off your shoe and keep going.

El Chihuahua: Es un perro

There is a nice article on the history of El Chihuahua, like our very own Foxxy.

Here is Rebecca M. Cuevas De Caissie's article.

I am sure that Foxxy is glad that she is around today, and not back in the Aztec days. You will know what I am talking about when you reach the fourth paragraph . . . the part where she talks about cremation and other stuff. Talk about "man bites dog."

When Puppies Attack

This is my cousin Foxxy. She is a biter. Here you can see her working on one of my human's fingers.

Bite Bite Bite

As noted on archive pages, she also likes wires and cords. A close watch on this one is required.

On the ESPN site, there is a human who thinks that he knows all about dogs. He "trains" them how to hunt. Hate to tell you, but we dogs have been hunting for longer than Humans. . . I think that we can really teach you. The article is Coaching the Fundamentals .

In this article, he references the core skills of a retriever:

1. Obedience
2. Steadiness
3. Marking
4. Delivery
5. Handling (Casting)
6. Lining

I don't know about all of these skills but I, as a boy dog, have number 3 perfected. Just ask any pole or plant in our yard.

Only in . . . Oklahoma?

OK, I am a Southern Californian dog and I have seen some strange stuff in Los Angeles. It is expected for L.A.

But I came across this article that tells of The Dog's Gym in Moore, Oklahoma.

Walk a mile on a treadmill for cardio, do muscle training exercises, hit the spa, then the "nap room." Sounds more like something found in Beverly Hills.

Humans can arrange for daycare for the dogs and even host birthday parties for their pets (with hats, bandanas and dog treats).

I'm not saying that it doesn't sound fun, . . . just bizare.

Ohhh.....How cute

I don't want to sound bitter or anything, but as I posted before, I just don't get the tummy rubbings that I used to.

I was cute

When I looked like this, I had humans flocking to rub me. . . now they just pat me on the head, or engage in a little horseplay. I get the attention, but I miss the lovin's.

Dogs on Prozac

I have to say that my life is good. I have never contemplated psyciatric help. However, I stumbled across this news article which documents Dogs on Prozac.

I like to chase my tail and pounce on shadows. It is fun, not a dysfunction.

[As a confidential side note . . . a while back, The Cat had to be put on altering medication to stop her from fighting any other cat that walked by. She grew out of it though.]

Burrr

Unlike Zoey, I do not like the snow.

I'm Cold

It is cold, wet and just . . . snowy. Give me a lazy day, lying on the grass in the sun, and I will show you a happy day.

Snow Dog

Like I said, Zoey is built for cold weather. She loves the snow.

Snow Dog

Look at the grin on her face. Romping about in the white fluffy snow; happy, like a puppy in a kibble store.

Buzzzzzzzzzz

Where we live is technically a desert. As a result of this fact, it gets hot. Real hot. For me, that is not a problem. . . I am built for heat. Zoey, on the other hand, is built for cold climates. Ergo, she gets buzzed before and during each summer.

Shaved

As the heat is coming, she has been buzzed. Quite a difference in appearance, huh?

He He He . . That tickles.

If I hear that little red thing complain about tickles one more time, I will tear its stuffing out. I don't know how "Foxxy" can put up with it.

Kill Elmo

Yes, they named the little mouth-full Foxxy. I think "Mid-Morning Snack" would have been a better name. Either that or "Damn-it", since that is the most common thing yelled at puppies. Especially those that like to chew.

I do have to admit, that I admire her ability to chew. I question her choice of wires and cords, but she does chew well.

New Friends

With the loss of my cousin last week, I am glad to announce that I have a new cousin. While she doesn't have a name yet, she is a cute little snack, I mean, a cute little pup.

Pup1

While she Isn't nearly as cute as I was (as seen from a couple posts below), she brings joy to those who need it the most.

[I am a little bitter that the humans play with her, and not me, but . . . with age comes wisdom. And wisdom is a great source for ultimate retribution. Lets see how many shoes can "disappear" before the humans become suspicious.]

Loss of a Loved One

I just learned from my humans that we have lost our little friend Inky.

We love you

She passed away the other day from heart failure. We will miss you and never forget you.
